A few members of the Apex Lions Club recently enjoyed a wonderful evening visiting the Garner Lions Club for what Lions call a “Prowl.” A Prowl is a visit to another Lions club where members have an opportunity to share ideas, learn from one another, and strengthen the friendships that make Lionism so rewarding.
Representing the Apex Lions Club were President Robert Montoya, Second Vice President Lisa Montoya and Secretary John Lynde. The evening provided a great opportunity to experience some of the traditions that make the Garner Lions Club unique.
One of the highlights of the evening was learning several Lions songs led by Garner Lion Bill McClure. The music added a fun and energetic spirit to the meeting and reminded everyone that fellowship is an important part of being a Lion.
We also learned about the Garner Lions Club’s “Happy Dollars” tradition. Members voluntarily contribute a dollar or two to celebrate happy events, recognize accomplishments, or simply express gratitude. The funds collected help support the club’s charitable work in the community, making it an enjoyable way to raise money for good causes while sharing personal moments with fellow Lions.

John Lynde, who also serves as the North Carolina Lions Information Technology Chair, gave a presentation on how technology can help Lions clubs better serve their communities. His presentation covered several topics, including social media, club web sites, and artificial intelligence. These tools can help clubs communicate with their communities, recruit new members, promote service projects, and work more efficiently.
The evening was filled with great conversations, new ideas, and plenty of laughter. Visiting other Lions clubs allows members to exchange successful ideas, build lasting friendships, and discover new ways to better serve their communities.
The Apex Lions Club would like to thank the Garner Lions Club for their warm hospitality and for sharing their traditions and experiences with us. We look forward to returning the visit in the future.
If you are looking for a meaningful way to give back to the Apex community while building friendships and having fun, we invite you to visit an Apex Lions Club meeting. Together, we can continue serving our neighbors and making a positive difference in our community.
