Our Newest Additions

By | May 16, 2014

Newest LionsPictured here (L to R) are Lions Horace Johnson, Michael Nunez, PDG Andy Lilliston, Marc Nieto and Lion LeeAnn Moffitt. Lion Michael was sponsored by Lion Horace and Lion Marc was sponsored by Lion LeeAnne who has only been a Lion herself for a few months now. And we even had another application turned in this evening so we are continuing to grow as a club. These are exciting times! Lion Michael is originally from Equador. He moved to Boston at age 19, then to Wilmington, NC with his wife and eventually to Fuquay Varina. They have a six month old son and he loves kareoke and foosball. Lion Marc loves to play Christian music on guitar and drums, owns a business with his father, has a passion for helping others (that will come in handy) and enjoys working with computers.

Lion Andy also gave us an update on Camp Dogwood since he is the District Chair this year. Camp Dogwood was started in 1967 to give the blind and visually impaired a place to enjoy themselves. It now offers swimming, boating, horseback riding and even a putt putt course. All clubs in North Carolina raise money for the maintenance, upkeep and improvement and Apex is usually one of the first to meet our goals each year. Each year we have a week or two where volunteers do maintenance and cleanup work which saves the NC Lions approximately $50K. So please volunteer to help if you can!
