Operation Sweet Tooth

OperationSweetToothCindy Emens along with Isabelle and Pete shared some information with is this evening about their service project called Operation Sweet Tooth.  This is a group of folks with a heart for serving our men and women in the military who are stationed overseas.  They prepare boxes packed full of snacks like nuts, crackers, cookies, etc. (no chocolate, though) and mail these boxes off to our military to give them a little taste of home and remind them that we are still here and still support them as they defend our freedom!  They are based out of the lobby of the Cary Senior Center which is located in Bond Park.  They have a drop box  for donations there and a scrapbook of letters and pictures they get back in return.  Operation Sweet Tooth is always in need of donations to fund the postage and purchase snacks.  Each box costs about $11.35 to ship – and that is a discounted rate from the USPS.  They can always use donations of snacks to fill those boxes too.

If you would like to make a donation or if know of someone in the military they can send a box to, please contact Cindy Emens at 919-465-9170 or haillie1004@msn.com with the name and an APO or FPO address outside of the USA.  The Apex Lions Club presented Cindy a check for $300 in support of their work.  We hope it blesses and brings smiles to the faces of many of our nations finest stationed overseas.
