At our meeting this evening, we were excited to share some wonderful news that will help us better serve families right here in Apex.
This past weekend, our Club President Bill Lemon, along with Sandy Johnson and Caroline Reneaux, traveled to Garner to participate in specialized training for KidSightUSA. This Lions program focuses on providing early vision screenings for children ages 6 months to 6 years old, helping detect potential vision issues at a stage when early intervention can make a lifelong difference.
The training covered every aspect of the KidSightUSA program, from operating screening equipment to understanding how to work effectively with young children. At the conclusion of the session, all three participants successfully passed their certification test and are now officially certified vision screeners.
They returned energized and enthusiastic about expanding this important service within our community.
The Apex Lions Club has proudly owned a vision screening device for about 10 years. Over the years, we have used it at many local events such as Apex Night Out, now known as Touch-A-Truck, PeakFest, community health fairs, and even at schools like Saint Mary Magdalene. These efforts have already helped many children, and now, with this new training, we are ready to do even more.
Early detection of vision issues can significantly impact a child’s development, learning, and confidence. By expanding our KidSightUSA efforts, we hope to reach more families and ensure that every child has the opportunity to see clearly and succeed.
We are now actively looking to partner with schools, preschools, homeschool groups, and any organizations that serve young children. Our screenings are completely free, and we would love to bring this valuable service to your group.
