On Saturday, April 1st, 2017 the Apex Lions Club partnered with Apex Baptist Church for an event called Love Loud.  This is a day where almost the entire church volunteers to serve the community to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ.  This sounds a lot like the Lions Clubs Motto: “We Serve!”.  There are many different service activities the church performs including medical and dental services.  When we learned about this and realized that there was no vision coverage we sprung into action and partnered with the church to use our SPOT screening device and provide additional volunteers to provide that service as well.

All told, we were able to perform 54 vision screenings and made 18 referrals.  This was accomplished in about 8 hours by nine Lions.  Special thanks go to the Lions who volunteered including Rich Engates, David Delehanty, Pat Nemmers, Bill Booth, Chip Pierce, Lee Strader, Greg Monteleone, Joe’l Lynde and John Lynde.
