Lion Bob Griffith, District 31G Zone Chair for zone 5 visited the Apex Lions Club to be our guest speaker and to honor the Apex club with a “Club President Excellence Award”. This award is also called the “100% President” award and was presented to Lion Joe’l Lynde for her work as our president last year.
Lion Bob hails from the Fuquay Varina Lions Club which was originally sponsored by the Apex Lions Club. He has been a member for the past 17 years and has served in many roles including having served as president twice. He is currently the zone chair for zone 5 which includes 9 clubs: Apex, Cary, Cary Community, Fuquay Varina, Garner, Holly Springs, Knightdale, Raleigh Southeast and Wendell. His job as zone chair is to keep in contact with each of these clubs, help them in any way he can and report on activities and issues to the District Governer. One of the primary focuses for our district this year is membership and retention. The Apex Lions Club is one of the three clubs in our zone that had a membership increase last year. We are a “model club” according to Lion Bob. Along with all the praise, he requested that we continue to help other clubs as we have in the past. Lion Bob proclaimed that: “If Apex is the Peak of Good Living, the Apex Lions Club is the Peak of Good Lions Clubs!”
