Apex Helps Hurricane Harvey Victims

By | September 9, 2017

Hurricane Harvey RecapThe Apex Lions Club approved $1,000 in relief funds to be sent directly to the Dickinson Texas Lions Club.  As we have done multiple times in the past, we are sending relief funds directly to a Lions Club because we know that 100% of those funds will be used directly in the aid individuals and families in that area.  That’s what Lions do!  Attached is some information we received in case you would like to help as well!

As of August 29, 2017:

Thanks to everyone who is reaching out to help Texas in dealing with the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey. As of this moment, the vast majority of affected areas are still dealing in the rescue phase of the disaster.

Houston and surrounding areas are still underwater. Rockport and nearby towns which were directly hit by Harvey are in such terrible shape that they are not even allowing residents back in and have specifically asked people not to send volunteers or goods at this time.

As to coordinating the flow of monetary donations, including the LCIF Major Catastrophe Grant, the MD-2 Council of Governors has taken action to establish the Texas Lions Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. At this time, direct donations in the form of checks can be sent payable to:

Texas Lions Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund
c/o MD-2 Texas Lions
PO Box 294509
Kerrville, TX 78029
Please be aware that MD-2 is a 501(c)(4)

In addition, if funds are required to be payable to a 501(c)(3), they can be sent to the following

Texas Lions Foundation
PO Box 64881
Lubbock, TX 7946

In either case be sure to indicate “Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund” on your check and send a copy of your transmittal to MD-2 Texas Lions at the address above.

This effort is currently a moving target and in the early stages of what will be a long-term effort. We will try to keep everyone aware of new developments as they occur. All interested in helping can contact the Hurricane Harvey Relief Committee at hurricaneharvey@texaslions.org.

Thanks again for your concern and willingness to help. It is great to be a Lion as we move FORWARD TO THE FUTURE OF SERVICE in our 2nd century of service. WE SERVE.

MD-2 Council Chair
