Michael Aveni plans to attend Appalachian State in the fall for a degree in Journalism. He was a member of our own Boy Scout Troop 209, worked at our fish fry, State Fair and participated in road side clean up services. He joined pack 312 as a first grader and grew with scouting.

Crista Villasenor-Reyes will be attending NC State in the fall for Fashion & Textile Management with a minor in Marketing. She was quite involved with the Children’s Ministry at Church and she even Lead Children’s Sunday School. Additionally, she volunteered for Wake County Food Distributions and provided free tutoring to Latino children in Apex. She was also a member of the Honor Society.

Danielle Focazio will start at Savannah College of Art for a degree in Animation. She was on the Speech and debate team, VP of the honor Society and had a great deal of service work as well as playing in the Marching Band (clarinet). She was also a Girl Scout where she worked with school age children and did service with Gardening and food pantry.

We at the Apex Lions Club are very proud of these Apex students and wish them tremendous success as they begin the next chapter of their lives. We also hope that one day they will remember the help they received along the way and decide to be of service to others whenever they can. Our scholarship is designed to encourage individuals who not only have potential to succeed academically but also have a demonstrated heart for service work.
