Lion W C Mills went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 3, 2012. Lion W.C. was a true Lion for 45 years. He was active in all the Apex Lions activities and could be counted on to be present at meetings and all club projects. He was our MC for many years at the anniversary banquet and his wit and humor still echoes. His azalea sale fund raiser was his pride and joy and raised funds to support Lions projects up until his health caused him to pass it on. Anyone who knew Lion W C will have their own favorite memories be it at Lions meeting, work projects, prowls, the State Fair booth, Wolf Pack sports events, golf outing or just sharing stories. He was an avid N C State fan and supported the Wolf Pack regardless of their successes. He was a world renowned poultry expert and professor at N C State. He had a green thumb and loved to grow things and there was always a great source of vegetable and fruits from his place.

He was a veteran and will be given full military honors.

Lion W C enjoyed bowling with his wife Mettie. They traveled all over the US with the sport and attended the big tournament in Reno for many years. He was proud of his grandson Cole, who he had lead down the alley as a bowler as well and was more excited about Cole’s perfect game than when W C bowled his own. Lion W C was a member of Green Level Masonic Lodge where he had served all the offices and was a Past Master. He received his 50 year Masonic Pin a few years past. He was also a member of Green Level Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. The world lost a great man that had integrity and a love of his country and family that will carry on with those who knew and were close to him.

Visitation will be from 6 – 8 PM on July 5 at the Apex Funeral Home. Services are at 11 am on Friday at Green Level Baptist Church Internment will at the Green Level Cemetery with Military Honors.
