A New Way to Serve Apex: Give Blood on October 1

A few months ago, the Apex Lions Club was exploring an idea: Could we partner with the American Red Cross to bring another opportunity to serve right here in Apex? On October 1, that idea becomes reality.

The Apex Lions Club is sponsoring an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the CC Jones Building, 309 Holleman St. in Apex. And we still have appointment times available.

Turning a Conversation Into Community Service

Earlier this year, our Lions began exploring what a partnership with the American Red Cross might look like. We saw an opportunity to connect one of the nation’s best-known humanitarian organizations with people in Apex who are ready to help their neighbors.

Now we get to put that partnership into action. Blood donation is a simple act with an important purpose. Donated blood is used to help patients facing surgeries, serious injuries, cancer treatments, blood disorders and other medical needs.

For the Apex Lions, the blood drive also represents something at the heart of what Lions do: finding practical ways for ordinary people to serve others. Sometimes that means collecting used eyeglasses. Sometimes it means helping someone with vision care, screening children’s vision, supporting local organizations or responding when a community needs help. And sometimes it means rolling up a sleeve.

We Still Have Room for You

Our October 1 schedule is filling, but there are still donation appointments available between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM. If you have been thinking about donating blood, this is a great opportunity to do it close to home. The drive will be held at:

This Is What Community Service Looks Like

One of the things we love about serving Apex is that community service does not have to be complicated. It starts when someone sees a need and asks, “How can we help?” Then neighbors, organizations and community partners come together to turn that question into action. That is what we hope to see on October 1: Apex neighbors giving a little of their time to help people they may never meet.
