Lion John Lynde presents MyLionOur first meeting of the new club year was eventful.  Here are some notes from our meeting last Thursday night.  Secretary Lion John Lynde had everyone’s membership cards for members to pick up and sign.

Lion Greg mentioned about tickets to the Holly Springs Salamanders games; let him know if we would like to go $9.00 or $14.00 for ticket and all you can eat hot dogs, hamburgers and popcorn.

Lion Sid told us about his week at Camp Dogwood.  It was a slightly light week for attendance and he encouraged others to volunteer as well in the future.

Lion John talked about the brand new MyLion app.  He listed 5 reasons to Love MyLion .  It is very easy to register, especially if you have your membership number.  All of our members should have it since they got there membership cards this evening.  (Don’t forget to sign them).  He also gave a demo or our Apex Lions Club site ‘apexlions.org‘   Demoing how to get around the site and showed how to change the contrast and Font size (which is great for visually impaired people).  The main page has links for who we are as Lions.  He also showed the link to a video which shows people how to fix the gmail spam filter to allow emails from our club.  He did a quick overview of how he can also edit our site quickly.  Finally, he asked if anyone in the club would like to help write some articles to post on our site after meetings or other activities that we want made known.

Afterwards, Lion Paul introduced DJ Lah – Life Scout in Troop 209, who talked to the Lions about his upcoming Eagle Scout Project.  He has plans created to make two 8 foot picnic tables to be placed at New Hope boat launch at Jordan Lake, in front of the communication trailer.  This is where many Volunteers for the Coast Guard Auxiliary will hang out and it will provide a wonderful place to sit and relax.  His plans are finished and he will turn them into the district for approval and hopes to start working on the project mid August.  The cost is ~ 287.00 per table.  He is asking the Lions for a donation towards his project.
