The first meeting in May was our annual Family Night and what a great turn out we had. Over 40 Lions and family members showed up for a great meeting. Cloudy, cold and dreary weather did not deter people from attending. The Faber family won the prize with the most family members present with 10. Second went to the Johnson family with 7. Even with the cool breezy evening, folks stayed around to visit and consume all the food put on the table by Lion Horace. Lion John Lynde opened our meeting with the pledge with Lion Bill Booth displaying his flag pin. Following a blessing of our meeting and meal by Lion Larry Jordan the feeding began. Not sure who ate the most but rumor has it at least one Lion had 3-4 burgers and a few hot dogs to make the baked beans taste better,
Feedback from this meeting is always rewarding as the kids have a great time and get to sit and watch older folks have fellowship and witness that yes talking is still an acceptable means of communication in this electronic age of texts and emails. Put the date on your calendar for next year May 1, a May Day family Meeting. Maybe we can tie that into the National Prayer day event as well and open it up to the community as well. Events like this are good for our future generations to see the importance of service organizations like the Lions.
See you next year
