This evening we installed our 2025-2026 club year Board of Directors. Presiding over the installation was Immediate Past President of North Carolina Lions, Steve McLaurin. Steve is also a Past District Governor (PDF) and a member of the Raleigh Host Lions club. He has been a Lion for over 48 years.
Before the installation he shared some stories with our club. If you know him, you know that there are few things that Steve loves more than telling stories. He started off by telling us about the horse show that the Raleigh Host Lions used to sponsor. Many years ago, he was asked to chair the committee and he took on the challenge. But he also wanted to step it up a bit so he found a way to get the Clydesdales to make an appearance as well! It was quite a funny story so if you get the opportunity to have Steve visit your club you will definitely want to ask him about that one.
He also shared some experiences from his year as the President of North Carolina Lions. This included the trips he made to western North Carolina to deliver relief for victims of Hurricane Helene. He shared heartwarming stories of the gratitude he witnessed for that.
Finally, after giving us some updates on Camp Dogwood, too, he installed our officers for the upcoming club year. After the installation he gave our incoming President, Lion Bill Lemon an ideas for a fundraiser which might also bring us some new members if we do it right. We all enjoyed hearing from Steve and look forward to a very productive club year.
