Last night our own Lion Paul Dean provided a presentation associated with the Lions International program on diabetes prevention. He described the recent growth in Type 2 Diabetes among our youth. Paul, who is an Assistant scoutmaster for our local Scouting USA troop, noticed more scouts entering the troop were Type II diabetic and started to wonder why. He then explained and shared how he designed a Personal Fitness Presentation for his scouts who were required to earn the Personal Fitness Badge to obtain the coveted Eagle Scout Rank. Parts of that presentation were shared with the Lions and guest present. The presentation prompted lots of discussion from the lions and guests, some of which were diabetic. The presentation was well received and further showed how Lions provide value-added services to our community.
