T.B. Holland Memorial Scholarship Program 2024
The Apex Lions Club is offering up to three (3) $1000.00 and up to three (3) $500.00 college tuition scholarships to qualified students graduating from Apex area high schools in the class of 2024. This scholarship is non-renewable and will be applied to the 2024-2025 tuition costs and paid directly to the college.
Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on the quality of essay responses that exhibit characteristics of service to school and community and a vision for the future. Other factors which may be considered include: Recommendations from teachers and leaders, GPA, financial or special needs, specific volunteer service especially if it relates to the Lions Club, Leo Club or Boy Scout Troop 209.
Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization with a network of volunteers around the world who work together to respond to the needs of their own communities. Our mission is to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace, and promote international goodwill.
The Apex Lions Club is part of the Lions Clubs International, and has provided services to the Apex community related to such issues as providing eye exams and glasses to families in need, and collecting used eyeglasses and hearing aids for redistribution internationally. We also have our own vision screening device that helps the early detection and treatment of vision impairments in children. We use revenue from our various fundraising projects to support programs such as Camp Dogwood for the Blind, Boys and Girls Home of North Carolina, Disaster Relief, Diabetes Awareness, Leader Dogs, Boy Scout Troop, Apex Police Department, Western Wake Crisis Center and various other community needs.
